"These are very exciting times for Hastings Manor. Residents and staff moved to our new state-of-the-art facility in August of 2004. They are thrilled about being in their new home!We all want the new Hastings Manor to be the kind of long- term care facility that our loved ones deserve. We want the comfort of knowing that we have provided a home that protects the privacy and dignity of all those in need of special care. Residents and their families will quickly recognize that in every possible way, we understand how crucial it is to have a facility that truly reflects their needs."At Hastings Manor, residents and their family members applaud the compassionate level of care provided by Hastings Manor staff. Concern for the comfort of the residents is always of prime importance. Each resident is entitled to care that preserves his/her dignity and values his/her right to privacy. The new facility's emphasis on design for the cognitively impaired is unique in that it takes into consideration the needs of the residents with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. There are several ways to help improve the quality of life for the residents of Hastings Manor. Replacing and upgrading equipment is a necessary and an ongoing process. However, you may wish to direct your gift to a specific area, such as the Resident Comfort Fund, or perhaps your interest is in the Education and Training of staff so they continue to provide the best possible care. There are many options all needing your help. Your gift is important to us. If you wish to discuss how you would like to direct your gift, please call Hastings Manor Foundation 968-6467 ext. 2246 or email info@hastingsmanorfoundation.ca. Dedicated spaces have been made available for physiotherapy, horticulture therapy, craft activities, group exercise and a library. All gifts are gratefully received and appreciated by everyone at the Manor. The Foundation will issue a charitable tax receipt and enter your donation in our Donor Book. Gifts of $1,000 and up will be recognized on our Donor Wall, and Dedication and Naming opportunities are available. The facility design also features Palliative Care Units, compassionately designed to care for the terminally ill. Special attention has been given to the residents and families so that they may have a private care suite that allows visitors 24 hours a day. This allows for continuous contact while residents receive palliative care. Questions and AnswersWhy has Hastings Manor built a new facility? Due to deterioration, antiquated design and layout, the original facility was designated as a "D" facility by the provincial Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and therefore required rebuilding. What is the cost of the project? Total estimated cost is $33.2 million dollars. The community portion of the cost is $2.5 million dollars. This amount will be used for new updated equipment and furnishings. The community at large is asked to be generous in their support of the new facility since it serves the needs of so many of our loved ones, friends and neighbors. By incorporating residential designs and the comforts of home, instead of institutional sterility, the quality of life for the residents of Hastings Manor will be vastly improved. |
